Traditional Birthing Center Project
Under Construction
Neskonlith, Secwepemc Territory
Monday-April 23, 2007
Weytk, to all those out there that support Indigenous Sovereignty and
Autonomy. We are writing to you to inform you that we are now constructing
a Traditional Birthing/Health Center on Neskonlith, Secwepemc Territory. We
are building a traditional underground pithouse, kekuli, for the Center. We
have many people interested in our Secwepemc community about natural and
traditional forms of birthing, healing and overall health. This is the
first step, we are taking in order to take control of our own health care
for ourselves, our children and Nation. This is a Native Youth intitiative.
We have no financial support as of now and have started what we could to
get this going. We are asking anyone who supports such initiatives to help
by donating whatever you can. Our goal is to raise $1000 CAD. (If we can
get 5 people committed to donate $200 each we will reach this goal to
complete this project). Any amount is not to small, every bit counts.
Please take the time to look at the attatchment. Your help is appreciated.
Please feel free to forward this to those you think may help. Kukstsemc,
for taking this time to read and consider this proposal.
